The FWD Mentoring Programme pilot, launched in March 2026, marked an important step in translating our community ethos into structured, meaningful support for women across the data centre industry. Designed as a collaborative initiative, the programme has paired experienced professionals with the next generation of talent from across a broad spectrum of disciplines—engineering, architecture, operations, client-side roles, and beyond. The aim was simple but powerful: to create dedicated space for guidance, knowledge-sharing, and honest conversations that are often difficult to access in a fast-paced, male-dominated sector.

At its core, the pilot focused on building purposeful relationships between mentors and mentees. These pairings were carefully considered to foster both professional development and personal confidence, enabling mentees to navigate career progression with greater clarity. Equally, mentors were offered an opportunity to reflect on their own journeys, give back to the industry, and play an active role in shaping the next generation of leaders.

We hope the pilot has laid the foundation for a longer-term mentoring offering within FWD. More than just a programme, it will represent a commitment to sustained, tangible action—ensuring that women across the data centre sector feel supported, connected, and empowered to progress.
